Gregg Smart, 24, was shot and killed in his Derry, New Hampshire, condominium on May 1, 1990. His wife, Pamela Smart, a media coordinator at Winnacunnet High School, had begun an affair with a 15-year-old student, William Flynn, who fired the shot with help from three friends. The four teenagers pleaded guilty and testified against her. In 1991, at one of the first trials televised live from start to finish, she was convicted as an accomplice to first-degree murder and sentenced to life without parole.

   The Smarts' condominium, Derry (Crime scene, approximate area)

   Flynn and Patrick Randall entered the couple's condominium and Flynn shot Gregg Smart in the front hall, while two other teenagers waited in the getaway car. The scene was staged to look like a burglary.

2. August 1, 1990
   Winnacunnet High School area, Hampton (Arrest, approximate area)

   Pamela Smart worked as media-services coordinator at Winnacunnet High School, where she met Flynn. She was arrested on August 1, 1990, at her school office across the street from the high school.

3. March 4, 1991
   Rockingham County Superior Court, Exeter (Court / trial, approximate area)

   Smart's trial, broadcast live on television, began March 4, 1991. On March 22 the jury convicted her of accomplice to first-degree murder, conspiracy and witness tampering, and she was sentenced to life without parole.

4. 1993
   Bedford Hills Correctional Facility for Women (Prison)

   Smart was moved from New Hampshire's women's prison to Bedford Hills, New York, in 1993, where she is serving her life sentence.
